Purpose of Reduction
• Improve safety and visibility along roadways and sidewalks
• Maintain proper clearance from sidewalk and adjacent properties
• Reduce wind resistance to lower risk of damage during tropical storms
• Improve airflow and sunlight penetration to support plant health
• Encourage stronger, more compact and healthier regrowth
• Help reduce long-term maintenance costs
• Reset the hedge structure, as sea grapes naturally become oversize, top-heavy, and
woody inside over time – even with regular trimming
Recovery Period
• Hedges will initially appear thinner, less uniform, and somewhat sparse
• Interior branches, trunks, and some gnarled wood will be visible
• This appearance is expected and temporary following reduction
• New shoots and foliage will begin emerging within 2-6 weeks
• Regrowth will occur along branches closer to the base
• Foliage will return greener and healthier as older growth is replaced
• Hedges will continue filling in over several months, with full regrowth expected within 6
12 months
We appreciate your patience and understanding as the landscape transitions through this
process. These improvements are designed to enhance safety, resilience, and the long-term
beauty of our community.
